Wisdom and Aging
The aging process has been on my mind lately, especially after going through my own Crone ceremony last month ... When I was asked why I felt ready for the rites of passage into being a Crone, I felt daunted at that realization as I began to speak.
What makes the difference between the perception of a state of decline and inability to do things that you once did verses a perception of opening to whole new chapter, embodying the deep growing wisdom that can only come from the unique experience of living our lives in gratitude...
Is this also about honoring ourselves? That somehow that deep wisdom is unavailable until we learn to honor ourselves and our journey and that only then can we open to the Knowing we all have access to?
This October we had our third Amber to Indigo workshop which was filled with the most beautiful women on their journey to inner balance. The crystal singing bowls made for some interesting phenomenon that just further proved our vibratory resonance with sound, the horses and each other. The bowls just seem to take each participant to that connected inner space so quickly and easily. We spanned three generations in age yet seemed to have lifetimes of experience in the balance and I realized that wisdom was on it's own calendar of time.
I am amazed at what is to come!
Just got this from the daily Abraham quotes on November 23rd. 2007
"It's not about years. It's not about age. It's not about youth. It's about decline. And decline is about alignment, or not. Decline is about, in this moment, which way am I forking? In this moment, which way am I forking? In this moment, which way am I forking? That's all it's about.

Is it mystical connection, cowboy wisdom or understanding resonance?
So what makes you or anyone really want to learn, especially the horses? Unless you have experienced the Epona work, you may not have considered the choice as an option for the horses, but what if it was?
The more I spend time with the horses in this kind of work, the more I am aware of the subtle and gentle nature of connection we all share. Recently I attended a workshop with a trainer, a natural horsemanship trainer and I watched as he gave a clinic down the road from Epona Ridge. One of the participants commented on her horse's behavior because he was doing so well at the clinic and that it seemed impossible to her that there could be such a dramatic change.
The facilitator said that he didn't know why the horses seemed to do better when he was around, or why they were more calm and focused and he suggested that it was his energy that affected them all. He told a story about past participants that felt frustrated by the fact that when the clinic was over, their horses went back to the same old misbehaviors that they had experienced before the clinic. When asked why, he seemed to suggest that he just had a way about him that affected the horses while he was there.
Watching the event from the outside of the arena, I felt the energetic change and was able to watch and feel what was going on... I saw the shift in each of the participants and I recognized the feeling quite easily since I had seen it many times before in the Epona work. It wasn't the facilitator or some magical energetic spell; it was a resonance that was slowly permeating the group, a resonance of calm willingness with a genuine interest in finding a way to connect with these amazing creatures. And guess what.... the horses were responding in kind, they became more calm and open to learning what these humans had in mind. The facilitator had the ability to slow the experience down to a step by step evolution. Like you may have seen on "The Dog Whisper" the horses were directly reflecting their human partner's energy. As the participants felt safe in that enviornment they began having fun and learning. So did the horses.
When the humans relaxed, the horses relaxed. When the human felt safe and honoring the efforts of the horses, the horses were relaxed and were honoring the efforts of the humans.
Isn't that how we all feel in relationship to each other? To be honored exactly where we are makes us more willing to try. Honoring each other makes us feel a sense of safety which opens the channels of communication and encourages the possibility of a peaceful and joyous relationship!
