Is it Time for a Relationship Tune-Up?

Learning the art of healthy connection is a skill that can change your life!
Married couples and those in committed relationships tend to have better health than those outside of relationships, but only if they know how to effectively communicate by really hearing and honoring each other. Research has shown that while 90 percent of our communication is non-verbal, most people only rely on the 10 percent they can hear.
Studies have shown that unhappily married couples are at higher risk for heart attacks and cardiovascular disease than happily married couples. Even heated arguments, common in relationships, will not negatively impact your health if they are handled with authenticity and mutual respect. The skills and tools from these programs offer couples a way to honor themselves and each other as they provide a strong foundation to support a healthy and happier long term commitment.
In an effort to support a healthy foundation in relationships (couples and individuals wanting to be in a committed relationship) and contribute to improved health in our community, Epona Ridge’s Barbara Alexander developed a workshop called Learning About Connection. "Horses are the ultimate relationship experts," Alexander noted. "Working with them in this program is safe and fun, and it easily teaches us how to connect with each other on a whole new level."
Learning About Connection uses an equine facilitated technique that teaches awareness of our individual non-verbal communication. People are often surprised by the emotional growth they experience during these retreats.
One male participant said, "I wasn't sure before I started working with the horses that they could possibly react to me in ways that were significant only to me. Much to my amazement they did over and over give me exactly what I needed. It could be the same horse with different participants and each participant was given exactly what they needed, different behavior for each of us........I am amazed and grateful to experience this for myself....I felt safe and Loved and comfortable in every way. I will be back."
There is an art to the sacred dance of connection between humans that the horses are graciously teaching us.
It is the subtle realization of the non-verbal world combined with simultaneous awareness of others.
They help us to learn where the healthiest connection can occure in different situations, in addition to teaching us how to 'just be' with someone without needing to fix or change them.
You will learn some tools to help you hear your own truth and to be able to stand in it without crossing other's boundaries or having other's cross yours.
You will learn about simultaneous awareness and how to honor each other on your path, opening the doors for two balanced individuals to be together in one relationship that honors both beings...
It is an equine facilitated human skills course that can benefit everyone!
Through individual experiences with horses and each other, we will have fun learning about what is working as well as how we can be even better!
