After evaluating many different forms of equine therapeutic programs, Barbara Alexander, Founder and Director of Epona Ridge, choose to study and apprentice with Kathleen Barry Ingram and Linda Kohanov, author, horse trainer and founder of the Epona Approach™ which has received international attention for horses in the work of human development.
The teachings of Linda Kohanov most closely aligned with Barbara's key values in the horse/human relationship and provided the methodology for integrating the partnership in facilitation with horses. This process, combined with the principles of Epona Ridge and the empowerment of the human spirit, have culminated into programs that offer enhanced creativity, joy and inspiration.
Workshops at Epona Ridge specialize in personal development including relationships, emotional fitness, mindfulness, personal empowerment, Reiki energy healing and biofeedback, authentic community building, enhanced intuition, and interspecies communication.
Who Is Epona?
Epona is the ancient Celtic Goddess known as the protectress of horses, their riders, caretakers and stables.
Historically, there were altars for Epona in most barns across Europe as horses were greatly appreciated for all that they did helping with farming, providing a means of transportation, serving in war as they carried their riders into battle to help protect their land and families.
Horses became dear friends and family members to those that loved them. Epona became known as a symbol of the Divine Inner Feminine, healing transformation, balance and strength.
